Role Overview:

As a Software Engineer at Topsort, you'll be responsible for developing back-end services, APIs, and front-end experiences to support our mission of democratizing auction-based infrastructure for all marketplaces. Our flagship product, sponsored listings as a service, automates and simplifies auctions so that any advertiser, especially small ones, can compete effectively. This task is challenging. We leverage our expertise in game and auction theory, build real-time, scalable, and highly available systems, and create an intuitive UI for campaign management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable and fast services to run auctions
• Build financial systems including ledgers, payments, invoicing, and billing
• Create tools for small vendors to optimize their advertising spend
• Develop big data models to predict customer behavior
• Build tools for product and customer teams to streamline marketplace integration

Our Technology Stack:

Our stack includes Go, PostgreSQL, Typescript, React, Vue, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Role Expectations:

• Collaborate with the development team to design a software architecture that ensures clean and maintainable code
• Analyze and implement technological solutions for Topsort products
• Enhance the customer experience through technological improvements
• Suggest and implement process or technology improvements

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in software development
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly
• Ability to write professional-grade, maintainable code and choose appropriate technologies
• Clear, transparent, and honest communication, both verbally and in writing (e.g., Slack, Notion, Medium)
• Willingness to learn and take on tasks outside of your direct scope

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience with production services
• Knowledge of financial or payment technologies (e.g., Stripe)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with UI frameworks (React, Next)
• Infrastructure automation (Terraform, Kubernetes)
• Big Data technologies (Spark, Redshift)
• Understanding of economics, auction, or game theory
• Knowledge of functional programming
• Familiarity with security standards (OWASP, SOX, PCI/DSS, GDPR, ISO 2700x)
