About the Job

We are looking for a Software Engineer experienced in Android app development and mobile technologies to join our Client Tablet Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience building next-generation Android devices and delivering a high-quality user experience. A deep understanding of the full stack tablet platform and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team will be essential for success.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, and support Android native apps and web applications.
• Collaborate closely with application engineers for seamless service integration.
• Work with UX designers to implement user experiences on custom tablets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX, backend, Android, web, cloud, product management, and platform engineering.
• Conduct research to expand platform features.
• Provide technical documentation for new code and completed features.
• Build custom Android OS based on Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) is a plus.
• Quickly learn new technologies and patterns, leading new designs and solutions.
• Design and develop scalable applications in a Scrum/Agile environment.
• Stay updated on industry trends, products, and infrastructure.
• Work with Networking and DevOps teams to improve product experience and performance.
• Meet or exceed individual objectives, deadlines, and product quality expectations.
• Communicate effectively with internal team members.

Skills We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; 4 years of experience in lieu of education.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a passion for mobile technologies and innovation.
• 5+ years of Android app and SDK development experience with Kotlin, Java, and Android System WebView, following industry standards like Clean Architecture.
• 3+ years of experience with frameworks/libraries such as ExoPlayer, AndroidX/Jetpack, Dagger, etc.
• 3+ years of experience debugging Android apps using tools like ADB and logcat.
• 2+ years of experience integrating apps with REST APIs and JSON.
• 2+ years of experience with Android Runtime (ART), memory management, and performance optimization.
• 2+ years of experience with NodeJS/TypeScript, Next.js, and GraphQL.
• Basic networking knowledge: Wi-Fi, LTE wireless RF, TCP/IP stack.
• Experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
• Experience in Object-Oriented Design, programming, and design patterns.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex challenges.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing video and audio apps and handling media codecs.
• Experience developing cross-platform apps using React Native or web apps using React.
• Android NDK software development experience.
• Experience with mobile app test automation.
